Creative Dance - AGES 2- 4

The tiny tots will be building strength, flexibility, motor skills, counting, storytelling while being introduced to the elements of Tap and Jazz technique and vocabulary. They will gain confidence as they learn how to dance to the beat of the music and understand how to follow directions and class etiquette within a structured classroom environment.

The 2-3 year old classes run for one hour of two days a week. We keep it light and fun for the little ones to develop a love of dance. They start the class with freestyle where we introduce some basic fundamentals along with some fun creative movement activities. Then we have them change into Tap shoes — tap helps them start to count music and develops a sense of rhythm in young dancers.

It is normal for little ones to be hesitant to fully participate at first — they often want to watch and see what they are getting themselves into the first few weeks – but before long they are joining right in. We encourage independence in class but will have parents come into class at the beginning of the year if needed as support for their child. We also have regular visitor’s days throughout the year for parent viewing.

Parents are asked to be in waiting room to help in changing dance shoes. If it’s not possible just let the teacher know and they will change the shoes for your child.

Creative Movement 4-6

The Ages 4-6 classes run very similar as described above at creative dance, but there is an extra 30 minutes class which consists of Jazz/Hip hop lesson. The dancers must wear Jazz shoes. We train the students to develop co-ordination, postures, imagination, balanced training program & fundamental dance skills in classes. The teacher will choose best two dances of a particular child to perform in the year-end recital, in which there will be more dances, imagination exercises and use of props.
