ACROBATICS :

This program is centered on fundamental acrobatic technique to increase flexibility, strength, balance, coordination, endurance, timing, body awareness, self-discipline, and confidence. Classes focus on proper hand placement and body alignment, with emphasis on the muscles and flexibility required to perform proper technique.

Ages 6-8 :

Acrobatics focuses on building upper body and core strength to sustain controlled and inverted acrobatic moves. In this class, students will begin learning fundamental moves in order to achieve more advanced tricks in future classes. Each student will receive one-on-one spotting and instruction as they go across the mat so that they can build confidence in their acrobatic ability. This class fuses dance technique with acrobatic motion and emphasizes smooth transitions between the two. Dance-based acro requires students to try new movements with the bodies in such a way that is both challenging and rewarding. Acro 6-8 draws inspiration from yoga, circus acts, acrobatic dance, break dancing, and while blending disciplines from dance, acroand tumbling. In this class, students will work on cartwheels, backbends from a standing position, and front limber/backbend kickovers.

Ages 7 & above Int./Adv. :

If a student has more advance dance technique and never taken acrobatics before, they may still be placed in the intermediate or advanced acrobatics class. This class incorporates a lot of strength training so that students can continue to build the muscles that will help them master more advanced tricks and tumbling. After a year in intermediate/advanced Acro the student should have mastered their front and back walkovers and will have been given the instruction for aerials and back handsprings. Each student will receive one on one spotting and instruction as they go across the mat so that they can build confidence in their bodily ability. The Nimble Foot Dance Company has acrobatic classes fuse dance technique with acrobatic motion and the tricks taught in this class will be incorporated into studio performances.

Flexibility :

Increase your flexibility and strengthen your body alignment through the art of stretching. Learn stretching, relaxation and breathing techniques to improve your mind and body connections. Whether you are a professional or recreational dancer, we all have goals of increasing flexibility, finding balance and reducing pain and stress. Stretching reinforces healthy posture and body alignment. It also helps to prevent injury and elevate pain and stress. In this class, the trainer employs many different methods of stretching, such as those which warm you up, cool you down, aid in relaxation, increase muscle and joint flexibility and improve your mind and body connections. Trainer takes a comprehensive approach by stretching the whole body but also takes requests in order for you to reach your goals.
